The foot-at-risk platform

Own your foot record. Catch risk earlier.

OpenFootLab helps people at foot risk build a living Foot Passport — a private, portable record of photos, scans, measurements, inserts, wounds, surgeries, and care history.

Because foot risk is not just a diagnosis. It is pressure, shape, skin, temperature, time, and the daily changes most systems miss.

“I personally see my foot health as my #1 condition — not diabetes. Diabetes increases complications and risk — yes. But the foot is what I manage.”

How we're built

Built by a foot at risk — not a pitch deck.

OpenFootLab is months of unpacking, testing, building, and verifying — self-funded, out of pocket, by one person managing a foot at risk. The human in the loop is the founder. No venture capital. No investors to answer to. No data-broker model hiding in the fine print.

Every claim on this site is verified, vetted, and defendable — a working proof of concept, not a promise. If we can't show the proof, we don't make the claim.

I know the pain, because I live it. And I know exactly where the care team drops off — respectfully. Not from any failing of theirs, but because a clinic visit is a snapshot, and a foot at risk changes by the day. That gap — between visits, on the foot you can't feel — is the whole reason this exists.

Self-funded No VC Founder-tested Your data, never ours Verified & defendable
Why it matters

Risk comes from many places. The problem is the same.

Start to finish

Four steps. The first one takes a minute.

No account, no hardware, nothing to install. You can start today with the phone in your hand.

01
Photograph the foot

One photo a day, same light, same angle. A phone and a folder is enough to begin.

02
Get the daily read

Each photo is read for change — skin, colour, shape, temperature. Not a diagnosis. A second pair of eyes on a foot you may not feel.

03
Take it to your clinician

Months of daily reads, in one record you own and share. A visit stops being a snapshot.

04
If it points to pressure, we build the relief

Only when the record shows it. A custom offloading insert, printed to your foot — and re-printable, because the spec is kept.

Steps 1–3 are free, forever. Step 4 is the only thing we sell.

Diabetes Poor circulation Neuropathy Surgery Prior wounds Amputation Deformity Pressure Aging Mobility challenges

Small changes can become serious when they are missed.

What you track

Document the foot over time

OpenFootLab helps people and caregivers keep a living record — and turns it into something a clinician can read in minutes.

Photos over time

A visual history of the foot so change is obvious side by side.

Notes & daily checks

Quick daily entries build a habit and a timeline of how the foot feels.

Footwear records

What was worn, and when — footwear is often the hidden variable.

Offloading history

Pads, inserts, and devices used — what worked and what didn't.

Wound history

Track sites, healing, and recurrence in one continuous record.

Temperature observations

Warmth can precede a problem — log it and watch the trend.

Clinician-ready timelines

Everything above assembles into a clear, chronological summary — so a clinician sees the whole trajectory of the foot at a glance, not a scramble of loose photos and memories.

How it works

One photo a day. A daily read of your foot.

Your foot may not feel what's happening — an at-risk foot can go quiet. So OpenFootLab gives it a second set of eyes that never gets tired.

WATCH · MEET FREDDY, BUILD YOUR FOOT PASSPORT
Observations, not a diagnosis.
Your daily foot report

Take one photo. On your own device, the OpenFootLab vision model reads it and hands you a short, plain-language report:

What it sees today

Skin, color, spots, drainage, the surgery or amputation site, swelling.

What changed

Measured against your own baseline — your normal is the yardstick, not a stranger's foot.

Where to focus

The areas worth a closer look — and worth bringing to your care team.

Private by design. It runs on your own hardware, in your home — your photos never leave the house, never touch the cloud. It doesn't diagnose and doesn't replace anyone; it helps you notice earlier, and hands your care team a clear place to look.

Your own box

A small device on your desk that is your Foot Passport — it holds your records and runs your daily report, fully private. A serious condition gets a serious tool, the same way a diabetic owns a meter or CGM. You own the machine, you own the record.

Or free, hosted by us

No compute? Use our free hosted model — so nobody is gated from their own daily foot read by hardware cost. We read your photo and hand back the report; we don't keep it. Just want to try it? Start with a phone and a folder.

Freddy — your fren in the room

Daily foot care shouldn't feel like a chore or a scare. Freddy is the friendly nudge that keeps you showing up — gentle reminders, real encouragement when you string clean days together, and pro tips learned the hard way. On the hard days, he's the one who says "today's job isn't to beat the world — it's to heal." He cheers you on; your care team makes the calls.

With your care team

We don't replace your care team.
We make every visit count.

Your care team is essential. OpenFootLab is the layer in between — so you're a better-informed patient, and they get the full picture.

Your record travels with you

Your history, your allergies, both feet — owned by you, ready for every provider, every visit. Nothing important has to depend on memory.

The visit is a snapshot — your foot lives every day

Walk in with a month of evidence, not a vague “it's been bothering me.”

Both feet, always

When one foot is healing, the other is carrying the load — and the foot that's fine today is working overtime tomorrow. Prevention doesn't take turns.

Clinician-ready, in a tap

Everything assembles into a clear timeline you can share — so the appointment counts.

What we build

Offloading is geometry, not padding.

A soft insole spreads load. An offloading insert moves it — off the spot that is taking the damage and onto the parts of the foot that can carry it. That is a shape problem, and shape is something you can specify, print, and print again.

Every insert below came out of one file — insert_parametric.scad — driven to different numbers. Nothing here is a stock photo; these are renders of the actual geometry.

Standard offloading insert — 8 mm heel cup, 9 mm arch, rendered from the parametric CAD source
Standard offload

The everyday build. Heel cup holds the fat pad where it belongs; the arch takes load off the forefoot.

CUP_H 8 · ARCH_H 9 · T 5
High-arch offloading insert — 12 mm heel cup, 14 mm arch, deeper relief for a high-pressure forefoot
Deep relief

When the record shows pressure concentrating, the cup and arch go deeper — more load moved, further from the spot.

CUP_H 12 · ARCH_H 14 · T 6
Left-foot build of the same insert — handedness is a parameter in the CAD, not a separate file
The other foot

Same source, mirrored by a parameter — never a second file. Two files drift, and a mirror-flipped insert is the one defect you cannot wear.

MIRROR 1 · same spec

Because the spec is kept, a replacement pair is the same pair — not a re-scan and a fresh guess. Printed in TPU, one piece, with an integral groove that captures 3 mm spacer mesh. Not a patient-specific orthosis and not a validated medical device — your clinician decides what your foot needs.

From record to relief

When the record points to pressure, we build the relief.

The same platform that tracks your foot can turn that record into a custom, 3D-printed offloading insert — designed around your pressure map and printed in durable TPU with a soft, skin-safe top cover.
